Construction update and campus plans
Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a statement that evening that Taufanto briefed the president on construction progress at URI's building in Cikasungka, Bogor. The new facilities are intended to support the university's leadership education and training.
The permanent campus is planned for Cikasungka in North Bogor, on land formerly used as a PTPN palm oil plantation that is no longer productive. According to RRI.co.id and Kompas.com, the government is still finalizing the budget and construction phases.
While awaiting completion of the permanent campus, URI operates from temporary offices on Jalan Merdeka Selatan in Jakarta.
Internships scheduled for early 2027
Teddy also said Taufanto reported on 384 students in URI's Program Presiden untuk Pemimpin Masa Depan (P3MD), who are scheduled to undertake internships in January and February 2027, according to ANTARA News.
P3MD was URI's first program. As of July 2026, it was training 399 newly hired employees of state-owned enterprises, known as BUMN, Kompas.com and RRI.co.id reported.
URI's leadership and organization
Prabowo installed Taufanto as URI governor on July 22, 2026, at the State Palace in Jakarta.
URI operates under the Badan Pengelola Pendidikan Kebangsaan (BPPK). That body oversees three institutions: the Badan Pengelola Sekolah Unggulan, which manages excellent schools; the Badan Pengelola Perguruan Tinggi, responsible for higher-education management; and the Lembaga Administrasi Negara (LAN).
Taufanto has said URI is planned to bring together 10 universities integrated with LAN. He described France's ENA, now renamed INSP, as the model for URI, noting that it has trained many senior French officials.
