Court warns against sharing testimony

Febrie's lawyers pointed to two photographs that they said showed someone relaying testimony from Ferry Yanto Hongkiriwang, also known as Ferry Boboho, to fellow witness Mei Le Lucy Dewi Kusuma, known as Lucy Kweek. According to Kompas.com, the defense said it did not know the person's role but alleged that the updates covered everything Ferry said through the end of the hearing.

Presiding Judge Akhmad Fijiarsyah Joko Sutrisno told those in court not to pass details of witness examinations to witnesses who had yet to testify. He also prohibited live broadcasts of the examination of evidence, explaining that the restriction protects witnesses' independence and freedom to give testimony. News coverage without live broadcasting remained permitted.

"So this is a process of respecting the trial. This is a warning, the first and last warning," the judge said.

He directed prosecutors and defense lawyers to promptly report anyone passing trial information to other witnesses. Security staff were instructed to watch the audience and remove anyone who broke court rules. The defense was then allowed to resume questioning Ferry.

Ferry's testimony and the other defendants

During his testimony that day, Ferry said he had received Rp 22.5 billion from PT Perwira Adhitama Sejati as a retainer, or advance payment for legal services, kumparan reported. Asked by prosecutors what services he provided, he described clients coming to share personal stories.

The November 2 witness testimony also applied to the cases against Don Ritto, known as Idon, and Nurman Herin, who are being tried alongside Febrie on money-laundering charges, according to iNews.id. Don Ritto has claimed that 74 kilograms of gold and foreign currency found at several locations came from donations, kumparan reported.

Prosecutors said they had prepared 103 witnesses for the trial. Their planned electronic evidence includes communication devices holding WhatsApp exchanges between witnesses and related parties, iNews.id reported.

Money-laundering and extortion allegations

Febrie, the former deputy attorney general for special crimes, is accused of receiving Rp 346,743,821,282.00 and $440,990 that prosecutors say he knew or should have suspected were proceeds of corruption. The indictment, read on October 7, 2026, places the receipts between 2020 and July 2026 and links them to his service as director of investigations in the special crimes division and later as its head, a post known as Jampidsus.

Among the transactions cited is an alleged payment from businessman Tan Kian of 5 million Singapore dollars, approximately Rp 55 billion. Prosecutors say Febrie received the money through Ferry in connection with the alleged corruption case at PT Asuransi Jiwasraya.

That payment is also the subject of an extortion charge, according to iNews.id and kumparan. Prosecutors allege that Febrie extorted Tan Kian over the handling of the Jiwasraya case and that Tan Kian handed over the money after being threatened with designation as a suspect.

Febrie challenged the indictment in an objection he read on October 14, arguing that it failed to specify the concrete acts he was accused of committing. His lawyers said they had identified 22 problems with the indictment. The judges decided to rule on the objection together with the final verdict, kumparan reported.

Resignation and career

Febrie left the Jampidsus post in the early hours of Saturday, July 11, 2026. According to RRI.co.id, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin accepted his resignation during a police investigation, following searches at 13 locations by the National Police's Kortastipidkor and the Metro Jaya Police's Ditreskrimsus.

Born on February 19, 1968, Febrie entered the prosecution service in 1996 at the Sungai Penuh District Prosecutor's Office in Kerinci. He was sworn in as Jampidsus in January 2022 and oversaw major corruption cases involving PT Asuransi Jiwasraya, PT Asabri, the Kominfo 4G BTS project and the tin trade.

His 2025 periodic state officials' wealth report, known as LHKPN, listed total declared assets exceeding Rp 18.2 billion, RRI.co.id reported.
