National Police Chief Instructs All Provincial Police Chiefs to Identify Drug Hotspots

National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto has ordered all provincial police chiefs across Indonesia to conduct comprehensive mapping of drug trafficking hotspots and identify dealers operating in their respective regions.

"I have instructed all Kapolda to conduct mapping of areas, particularly drug hotspots in their jurisdictions," Suyudi stated during a briefing at the Ministry of Law office in Jakarta on Thursday.

The directive extends beyond geographical mapping to include detailed profiles of drug dealers active in each province. "Thus, the Kapolda have begun taking action in the neighborhoods within their areas, including Kampung Ambon, Kampung Bahari, and others like that," the police chief emphasized.

Nationwide Campaign Against Narcotics

The order comes as part of an escalated nationwide campaign against narcotics that Suyudi has been spearheading since his recent appointment. Between Friday and Wednesday last week, police forces conducted coordinated raids across multiple locations suspected of being major hubs for drug trafficking and abuse.

The operations targeted diverse areas spanning the archipelago, from Kampung Ambon and Kampung Boncos in West Jakarta to cities including Makassar, Palangka Raya, Balikpapan, and numerous locations throughout Sumatra.

According to police statements, these enforcement actions represent a direct implementation of directives issued by President Prabowo Subianto and the National Police Chief to combat the escalating drug trade threatening communities nationwide.

The mapping initiative is expected to provide law enforcement with strategic intelligence to dismantle drug networks more effectively and allocate resources to areas identified as high-priority intervention zones.
